It has been predicted that 2022 is the year when we will see a rise in the popularity of plant-based foods and ‘plant curious’ eaters.

Here at Spelt, we are big lovers of meat dishes, but also enjoy creating plant-based dishes too.

According to online food platform, ShelfNow, sales of vegetarian food products increased by 156% between 2020 and 2021 and vegan product sales rose by 150%.

The rise in the flexitarian movement has caused people to become more aware of environmental concerns, which has resulted in a demand for the highest quality meat, dairy and eggs.

Waitrose’s 2022 Food & Drink Report revealed that 70% of customers surveyed said the carbon footprint of their food was important.

This is something we are passionate about too and always source our ingredients as locally as possible and we also go for the very best quality we can find.
